Today Shreya Ghoshal is the leading name in Indian playback singing. Shreya started her singing career in 2002 with the film Devdas. And today within a very short period of time she made a place for herself in Bollywood. She is one of the prominent singrs alongside Alka Yagnik and Sunidhi Chauhan. Shreya won eight awards including Filmfare and National award in one year.

Born in a highly academic Begali family, Shreya started singing since age four. Her father is an Engineer, while mother is a postgradute in litrature. Shreya also had completed M. A. in literature. Shreya's mother was also a good singer. Her father recognized her talent at the very young age and gave her a formal training in Hindustani classical music. Shreya used to stay in a small town Rawatbhata near to Kota, Rajasthan. She later goes to Kota to take training in classical music from Kota.

Her real break came with the Zee TV's singing talent show Sa Re Ga Ma. She was selected for the 75th Children’s special episode. She won that episode and later also she won the children’s mega final show. It was Sa Re Ga Ma on which, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali heard her and was impressed by her sweet voice in such a way that he signed her as female singer for his film 'Devdas'. For the song 'Bairi Piya' from Devdas, Shreya received her first National award as best playback singer. Since then Shreya is entertaining the world with her sweet, melodious voice.

After Devdas, she lent her voice in films like Jism, Khakee, Munnabhai MBBS, Saaya, Tujhe Meri Kasam, Inteha, Out of Control, Dhoop, Kuchh Kaha Aapne, Aetbaar, Armaan, LOC Kargil, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Guru, Aap Ka Suroor etc. Shreya earned a Filmfare award for the song 'Jadu Hai Nasha Hai' from the film Jism.

Along with Hindi songs, Shreya also had sung in other languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi and Bengali. Today she is voice behind every top actress. She is mainly known for her romantic, sad and peppy songs.
